A Little Spoon

Who Me?

Hi! I’m Kari, the personality behind and creator of A Little Spoon. I’m a recipe developer, food photographer, and blog writer living in North Florida (USA). Like many a food blogger, I grew up cooking with my family, adored it, and just never stopped.

In a past life, I worked in political communications. And, although I was really good at it, I knew it wasn’t where my passion lived. That spark was in food. Now, I get to share with you what I think I’m meant to do. This is what chasing dreams looks like.

About Me: Kari eating ice cream

Fundamentally, this blog is the combination of several elements I desperately wanted to exist together on the internet:

  1. Flavorful recipes with intentional ingredient choices;
  2. Copious notes on ingredient interaction and recipe techniques; and
  3. A place where like-minded foodies could create a community.

I truly feel like I have created my own little oasis on the internet between this blog and my Patreon; a place where knowledge is freely exchanged and engagement over a shared passion for all things food is thriving and growing.

I hope you’ll join in. Come see what doors can be unlocked in your culinary journey when you have access to both expertise and a positive, supportive community.

About Me: Family Photo

On a more personal note, I have two amazing children and a wonderful husband who supports my dreams. He also cleans up even my worst kitchen messes, and boy have there been some doozies! I enjoy hiking and rock climbing. And, like any normal person, I plan all our travel around food.

“Science and art overlap tremendously in cooking. Once you understand the building blocks, you can be both flexible and creative in the kitchen!”

I truly believe my love of flavor, research, spreadsheets, science, and mess have helped me blur the lines between the art and science of cooking. Food is meant to be shared. I hope you take whatever you learn during your time here into many future culinary adventures.

Welcome to my blog friends! 🙂
